Skruk is well known for the Jazz audience after a series of appearances, the last time in 2007 with Nymark Collective. The choir has participated in some of the festival's most memorable moments as "Hallelujazz" Concerts with Outer Suløens Jass-Ensemble in 1982 and the five sold-out concerts when they took up cooperation in 2003. Under the leadership of Per Oddvar Hildre alias Prot, choir since its inception in 1973 been a spearhead and limit blasts within Norwegian choral music. The choir has through the years found and been found by exciting musical partners at home and abroad.
The new partnership with Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir and Skruk made after Skruk did some concerts in California for a couple of years ago.Representatives from OIGC heard them and were so excited that they cast forth the idea to do a project together. The project now has taken shape under the title "Roots" takes its point of departure that despite cultural differences between the US West Coast and the West Coast of Norway, we have shared spiritual roots. Differences in education, culture and ways of providing differences in ways of expressing himself, which colors the songs, both musically and textual. Specifically, as will the concert alternating between the two choirs singing alone and common numbers. The latter is a very exciting unison, as Prot even say it; "A new musical latte." There is every reason to believe that this au lait will appeal to Molde Jazz audience, maybe this will be a new legendary concert at the Molde Jazz.
